Sónar Hong Kong
Sónar Hong Kong reveals the line up of its inaugural edition with DJ Shadow, Daito Manabe, Nosaj Thing, Gilles Peterson, Evian Christ and many more.
Sónar will kick off its international events for 2017 with the festival’s 5th edition of Sónar Reykjavik (16th,17th,18th February) and its debut in Istanbul (24th, 25th March) and Hong Kong (1st April).
Tickets go on sale today the 7th of February, for the first edition of Sónar Hong Kong, which will take place on April 1st at Hong Kong Science Park, and will feature performances by Dj Shadow, Nosaj Thing, Daito Manabe, Kode9, Evian Christ, Clark, Dave Clarke, Gilles Peterson, Ellen Allien, Lady Leshurr, Powell and Gorgon City, as well as an impressive roster of Chinese artists with highlights including Fragrant Harbour & Ouissam, Ocean Lam and Choi Sai Ho, among many others.
Sónar+D, the International Congress for Digital Culture and Creative Technologies comes to Hong Kong for the first time with a program comprised of immersive installations, workshops, talks and audiovisual performances showcasing the latest trends in VR and digital art.
Following on the heels of four sold out editions, Sónar Reykjavik will take place for the 5th time on the 16th, 17th and 18th February. The festival will feature 56 shows across four stages in the inspiring Harpa concert hall - one of Icelands’ most iconic structures, located in downtown Reykjavik.
The inaugural edition of Sónar Istanbul will take place on 24th and 25th March, at Zorlu Performing Arts Center, feauturing Róisín Murphy, Nina Kraviz, Floating Points, Clark, Kode9 and Prins Thomas, among other artists.
Sónar Hong Kong celebrates it’s first edition
The 1st edition of Sónar Hong Kong will take place on April 1st, across 6 stages at Hong Kong Science Park. The festival will present an extensive program of live performances and DJ's as well as a selection of activities as part of Sónar+D, the congress for creative technologies, which will likewise debut in Hong Kong with an array of workshops, conferences and an exhibition, VR experiences and installations of new media art.
Sónar Hong Kong will offer several open air live shows, immersive audiovisual experiences and more intimate shows on its indoor stages. The musical line up features a mix of established artists such as DJ Shadow, Gilles Peterson and Dave Clarke; emerging talents including Lady Leshurr, Kingdom and Evian Christ; Chinese artists such as Fragrant Harbour & Ouissam, Ocean Lam or Choi Sai Ho, and live performances encompassing the spectrum from dance music to experimental electronica.

Sónar Hong Kong celebrates it’s first edition with a unique opportunity for its citizens to explore the complete cycle of the creative process in an open and informal manner.
In this way, Sónar Hong Kong will present activities along every step of the creative cycle; from presenting the most innovative prototypes, to master classes imparted by artists and creatives, and the chance to experience the finished product through live shows.
The Sónar+D program is comprised of innovative workshops, conferences and interactive activities designed to explore the relationship between creativity, technology, innovation and business in an inspiring and engaging environment. Geared towards people at all levels with an interest in technology and digital art, Sónar+D Hong Kong presents creative communities with an opportunity to get together, interact and exchange ideas.
An exhibition space provides a platform for centres of research, creative studios or other technological initiatives to discover new projects and prototypes. This space will also feature a selection of interactive installations and audiovisual performances showcasing the latest trends in VR and digital art.
