The days are passing by and as we’re getting closer to the end of the summer, we are also approaching the launch of the Odyssia Festival - which will be held at Cariocas Beach Bar. Only few days before the beginning of the festival, I had the chance to chat with one of the heroes of Detroit, Delano Smith. He is one of the biggest names participating on the Odyssia Festival this year.

Hello Delano, we are very happy to have you in USM. How are you?
I’m fine, a bit busy with Touring and working on my upcoming releases - but I love what I do so it’s all good!

How do you feel participating at Odyssia Festival?
I’m very excited about performing at the festival, I was there in 2015 and the site where the festival is - is absolutely beautiful, can’t wait!

Some say that the real techno came from Detroit. What’s your opinion about that?
Is this a trick question? LOL! I think it’s fair to say that Techno comes from Detroit - it is where the term “Techno” itself was coined. Where else in the world did you hear House or Techno other than in the states? Particularly Chicago, Detroit and New York. Although it (Techno) was heavily influence by many styles of early electronica, the Soul of Techno comes from Detroit.

More and more tourists are visiting our country for not only vacations but also to party. What do you want to tell them? Do you have any tips for them?
Yes, Go to Athens and Cariocas Beach, Beautiful..I didn’t want to leave last time I was there.

What do you love the most in Greece?
The food and the weather, lots of historical monuments and history there. One of my favorite places in the world.

Which is your top five of Classic Techno records?
Too many to name, not fair to breakdown just 5.

Οι μέρες περνούν και καθώς πλησίαζουμε στο τέλος του καλοκαιριού, ερχόμαστε επίσης όλο και πιο κοντά στην έναρξη του Odyssia Festival - το οποίο θα λάβει χώρα στο Cariocas Beach Bar. Λίγες μονάχα μέρες πριν την έναρξη του φεστιβάλ, είχα την ευκαιρία για μια σύντομη κουβέντα με έναν απο τους ήρωες του Detroit, τον Delano Smith. Ο Smith είναι ένα απο τα μέγαλα όνοματα που φέτος παίρνουν μέρος στο Οdyssia Festival.

Γειά σου Delano, είμαστε πολύ χαρούμενοι που σε έχουμε στο USM. Πώς είσαι;
Είμαι καλά, λιγάκι απασχολημένος με τη περιοδεία και τις επόμενες κυκλοφορίες – αλλά είναι αυτό που αγαπώ να κάνω οπότε όλα καλά !

Πώς νιώθεις που συμμετέχεις στο Odyssia Festival;
Είμαι πολύ ενθουσιασμένος που θα παίξω στο φεστιβαλ, ήμουν εκεί το 2015 και το μέρος είναι απλά πανέμορφο – ανυπομονώ!

Μερικοί ισχυρίζονται οτι η πραγματική techno ήρθε απο το Detroit. Ποιά είναι η άποψη σου σχετικά με αυτό;
Είναι αυτή ερώτηση – παγίδα; LOL! Πιστεύω πως είναι δίκαιο να πούμε οτι η techno προέρχεται απο το Detroit – Είναι το μέρος όπου ο ίδιος ο όρος "Τechno" είχε δημιουργηθεί. Πού αλλού στον κόσμο άκουσες House ή Techno πέρα από τις ΗΠΑ; Πιο συγκεκριμένα στο Chicago, Detroit και New York. Αν και η Techno έχει επηρεαστεί αρκετά απο πολλά στυλ της πρώιμης ηλεκτρονικής μουσικής, η ψυχή της Techno βρίσκεται στο Detroit.

Όλο και περισσότεροι τουρίστες επισκέπτονται τη χώρα μας, όχι μονο για διακοπές αλλά και για τα παρτυ. Τί θα τους έλεγες; Έχεις κάποιες συμβουλές για αυτούς;
Ναι, επισκεφθείτε την Αθήνα και την παραλία Cariocas Beach. Είναι όμορφα … δεν ήθελα να φύγω την τελευταία φορά που ήμουν εκεί.

Τι αγαπάς περισσότερο στην Ελλάδα;
Το φαγητό και τον καιρό, τα πολλά μνημεία και την ιστορία εδώ. Είναι ένα απο τα αγαπημένα μου μέρη στον κόσμο.

Ποιό είναι το δικό σου top five κλασσικών δίσκων Techno;
Είναι πάρα πολλοί, θα ήταν άδικο να επιλέξω μονάχα πέντε.
