BODJ – IRISH BURNOUT
Ιn Claap releases I often find tracks which have a “hypnotising” effect, boredom being the last thing I expect. And that’s for a reason, needless to specify - I mean, we’re talking about Claap. Now the label strikes back with one more stunning work, this time by Bodj.
The Greek producer makes a comeback after almost two years, with his Irish Burnout EP, and I’d say his sound matches that of the label perfectly. Even though he didn’t feed our ears with his much anticipated sound in 2013, releasing only one work on Back and Forth, he seems to be in great shape and his tunes remain as impressive as usual.
This is the case with this EP and these two gems of tracks, Irish Burnout and Rigel. Both play in the middle ground between House and Techno, the latter being the prevailing one.
What stands out right from the start of the EP is the dub features and the playful rythm of the percussive instruments, with all the other elements complementing the body of the sound deliciously. I personally have a soft spot for Rigel, because of its bass line and its acid touch.
Definitely two dance tracks which are going to work for anyone who includes them in their mixes.

Συχνά βρίσκω σε releases της Claap κομμάτια που έχουν ένα εφέ «υπνωτισμού», όμως η βαρεμάρα είναι το τελευταίο εφέ που περιμένω. Και σχεδόν πάντα επιβεβαιώνομαι, όπως και τώρα που το label ξαναχτυπά με μια ακόμα εξαιρετική δουλειά, αυτή τη φορά από τον Bodj.
Ο Έλληνας παραγωγός επιστρέφει μετά από δύο χρόνια σχεδόν στην εταιρεία, με το Irish Burnout EP και θα έλεγα πως ο ήχος του ταίριαξε απόλυτα με το ύφος του label. Αν και δε μας έδωσε πολλή τροφή για άκουσμα το 2013, με ένα μόνο release στη Back and Forth, οι δουλειές του παραμένουν σταθερά καταπληκτικές.
Αυτό ακριβώς συμβαίνει και σ’ αυτό το EP με τα δύο του κομμάτια, το Irish Burnout και το Rigel. Και τα δύο παίζουν ανάμεσα στη House και στην Techno, με τη δεύτερη να κυριαρχεί ευχάριστα.
Αυτό που ξεχωρίζει από την πρώτη στιγμή του EP είναι τα dub χαρακτηριστικά, ο παιχνιδιάρικος ρυθμός των κρουστών - αλλά και των υπόλοιπων στοιχείων των κομματιών. Στο Rigel έχω μια μικρή αδυναμία για το bass line του και για την acid πινελιά του.
Έχουμε να κάνουμε με δύο χορευτικά tracks που σίγουρα θα δουλέψουν για όλους όσους τα χρησιμοποιήσουν στα mix τους του.
Κυκλοφορεί από τις 14 Απριλίου σε βινύλιο και στις 28 του ίδιου μήνα σε digital μορφή.
