Deetron - Music Over Matter
Eight years after his debut album, ‘Twisted’, released by the ripping Belgian label Music Man Records, and a number of mix CDs in the meantime, Deetron makes a zealous comeback with a trully astonishing record.
Renowned for his smooth deep house & techno sounds, as well as his extraordinary skills (such as those of delivering rapturous three-deck sets and nailing both analogue and digital Djing) this gem of an artist finds himself in a transitional phase in his decade-plus career.
The names of his collaborators in this album speak for themselves: Ripperton, Cooly G, Delv!s, Ben Westbeech, Seth Troxler, Fritz Kalkbrenner, George Maple and last but certainly not least, Hercules and Love Affair.
The vocal element, present in nearly every track, is the prevailing feature and one of the most prominent assets of the record. Sexy vocals by Seth Troxler, enchanting ones by Fritz Kalkbrenner and lots of other audible dainties that have the same result. Music over Matter is, as it’s been pretty aptly described, “a prismatic mosaic of vocal textures and expertly crafted grooves”.
However, no words can do justice to the mighty, multi-faceted and untrammelled talent this Swiss artist is. You’ll have to let its sound show you what I mean.
"Count On Me" has been out for a couple of months on Aus Records as a single and the label's 50th release, followed by “Rhythm” on Music Man Records and finally, the album, on the 21st of October by the same label.

Οκτώ χρόνια μετά το πρώτο του άλμπουμ, Twisted, που κυκλοφόρησε με το φημισμένο Βέλγικο label Music Man Records και μετά από μια σειρά mix CDs, ο Deetron επιστρέφει (επιτέλους!) με έναν καταπληκτικό δίσκο.
Ήδη διάσημος για τους smooth deep house & techno ήχους του, όμως κυρίως για την απίστευτη δεξιοτεχνία του ως DJ (μπορεί να παίζει σε τρία decks ταυτόχρονα, ενώ έχει αποδείξει ότι το ζήτημα “analogue ή digital” Djing δεν τον απασχολεί - είναι καλός και στα δύο), ο φοβερός Ελβετός βρίσκεται σ’ένα μεταβατικό στάδιο στην πολυετή καριέρα του.
Τα ονόματα των συμμετοχών σ’αυτή τη δουλειά μιλάνε από μόνα τους: Ripperton, Cooly G, Delv!s, Ben Westbeech, Seth Troxler, Fritz Kalkbrenner, George Maple και Hercules and Love Affair.
Το φωνητικό στοιχείο, παρόν σχεδόν σε κάθε κομμάτι, είναι ένα από τα μεγαλύτερα ατού του album και μάλλον το κύριο χαρακτηριστικό του. Οι χροιές της sexy φωνής του Seth Troxler, της μαγευτικής του Fritz Kalkbrenner, μαζί με πολλά άλλα ηδονικά ακούσματα, οδηγούν στο ίδιο –φανταστικό- αποτέλεσμα. Όπως έχει πολύ σωστά περιγραφεί, το Music over Matter είναι «ένα πρισματικό μωσαϊκό από φωνητικές υφές και επιδέξια φιλοτεχνημένα grooves».
Οι λέξεις είναι μάλλον ανεπαρκείς για να αποδώσουν πλήρως οποιαδήποτε περιγραφή του απεριόριστου και πολύπλευρου ταλέντου του Deetron, οπότε θα σας συμβούλευα να αφήσετε τον ίδιο τον ήχο να σας εξηγήσει τι εννοώ εδώ.
Το single "Count On Me" κυκλοφόρησε με την Aus Records ως 50η κυκλοφορία του label, ενώ ακολούθησαν το “Rhythm” και τελικά το album, στις 21 Οκτωβρίου, από τη Music Man Records.
